   I am doing a product review Hub and don't understand what images I can legally use.
   
   On other people's Hubs I see a general lack of attribution for Product based Hubs.  Are we allowed to use any promotional pictures from that company's website?  How do I get a good quality image off of Amazon?  I'm fairly new to HubPages and would love some advice from those who have been around for awhile. Thank you!

   Generally, when writing a review about a product, it's OK to use your own pictures of that product. Using someone else's pictures of a product is a no-no unless you have received their permission to do so and that includes promotional pictures from a company's website.

      Technically the logo on a product is trademarked, so can it not show?  For instance, if I do a hub on a North Face pack, and take a picture of mine, can the logo show?

   You're always supposed to attribute images that you use on your hubs. HubPages has a guide on legal image use. You can read more about it here: http://hubpages.com/learningcenter/legal-image-use . You can use images that have the Creative Commons license or those that are in the public domain. The above hub has a format on how to attribute those images. And for Creative Commons licenses, you also need to consider what kind of license the image has like if its CC:BY, CC:BY-SA, CC:BY-ND, etc. Images with those aforementioned licenses can be used in your hub but if your hub is commercial, then you can't use the ones that have the non-commercial tag to them.
   
   The above also applies with the images in product-based hubs. But, if you're promoting Amazon products, then you can use the images from Amazon.com. You can use the many images that a product on Amazon.com has. But, I'm not sure if you can use the customer images on Amazon.com.
   
   I write a lot of product-based hubs and I also use images from Amazon.com. I did ask questions about images on the forums too. Hope this helped and welcome to HubPages. I'm fairly new here too.

      If they are product based hubs, finding images with a creative commons license is nearly impossible.  I've read several hubs and it looks like if someone is doing a Hub on a Nike Free Run shoe, they are pulling it off of the product's website.

   You can use images from Amazon to sell Amazon products. They encourage it! I would stay away from customer images though.
   
   Have a read of their TOS agreement. It specifically states:
   
   "In order to facilitate your advertisement of Products, we may make available to you data, IMAGES, text, link formats, widgets, links...."

   There's no need to attribute the images you get from Amazon either.
   
   What you couldn't do is take their images and then sell the products through another merchant - does that make sense? If Amazon are profiting from sales then they are very happy for you to use the images.
   
   If you want to use an additional image as well as the one that comes up automatically in the amazon capsule, go to the specific product. Right click on the largest product image (usually on the top left of the page). Click save image as. Save somewhere on your computer where you'll be able to find it easily. Then use an image capsule in your hub and upload the image.

   If you are doing a product review, I assume you own the product in question.  If you do, you can use your own photographs.  I haven't done that many product review hubs but the ones I did do, have my own photographs.  I'll give you a couple of examples.  I wrote a hub explaining Ford's Sync technology.  Since I have a car equipped with Sync, I took my own pictures and uploaded them.  I also did a hub reviewing a Kindle Fire.  So far, I haven't gotten my pictures and video the way I want them which means I haven't uploaded anything for that hub yet.  My review of a video game featured still images from a video I made of an actual game that I played against the computer.
